The Arrow
Volume I, Issue 3
Merry Christmas! As we reach the end of another year, we look forward to celebrating again the birth of Jesus the Christ. It has been a rewarding year of growth and development for Bullseye Ministries, for which we are grateful. God continues to expand out territory, both geographically and denominationally. Please pray for this ministry as we continue to meet the challenge of developing men, men’s ministries, and leaders for the Kingdom of God.
Special Shoutout To Bro. Bernard Floyd, Bro. Keith Gibby, and the men of the Southwest District of Alabama for hosting a first-rate National Laymen Weekend Workshop.
THE SHOT
Born to Die
Tis the season to be inundated with images of mangers and magi, shepherds and swaddling clothes, and of a baby born in difficult circumstances to an unwed mother. We are constantly bombarded with pictures of Jesus as a helpless infant. What we don’t see, and rarely consider at Christmas, is His destiny.
Some would suggest that it is morbid to discuss the death of Jesus during this season. They would argue that those conversations and proclamations are best reserved for the Easter season. But the Revelator reminds us that He was “slain from the foundation of the world.” Revelations 13:8. He was preordained from before “In the beginning” to die a substitutionary death on behalf of all of those who would come to Him. And even though He wavered once (“Let this cup pass”) ultimately He found, followed, and fulfilled His destiny.
As we consider the destiny of Jesus and approach another new year, this might be a good time for each of us to contemplate our own purpose and destiny. While I don’t necessarily believe in New Year’s resolutions, any day is a good day to adopt Jesus’ response to the impulse to deny His destiny – “Not my will, but thy will be done”. Have you found your purpose? Are you following your path? If you are, you’re destined to fulfill God’s plan for your life.
WHAT'S BEEN GOING ON?
On the first Saturday in November we were blessed to be the featured speaker at a Leadership Development Conference held at the New Hope Baptist Church, San Bernardino, California. Over 100 church leaders and aspiring leaders from several area churches participated in a three hour session that covered two main topics – Introduction to Leadership and Mentoring New Leaders. Much positive feedback was received form the host pastor, other pastors in attendance, and many of the participants.
We have also participated in two National Laymen Weekend Workshops; one in Humboldt, Tennessee, the other as mentioned above in Mobile, Alabama. At each session we were able to present a brief overview of the principles for developing an effective men’s ministry as outlined in Motivating and Mobilizing Men for Ministry.
WHAT'S COMING UP?
We are off for the rest of the year. Praise God for some rest and time at home with my family! We also praise God for the fact that we are scheduled for several conferences and other engagements for 2007. Our website is being updated constantly with new engagements.
Aiming at the Mark,
Ernest Tinsley
